Looking for Monarch Money alternatives.

Monarch Money and Rocket Money both track a household's full financial picture, net worth, subscriptions, spending, at a yearly or monthly price. Neither was built to split a bill with someone outside that household.

What each does well.

Monarch Money is a thorough household budgeting tool, with net worth and investment tracking sitting alongside the budget, and shared household access included at no extra per person cost. Rocket Money's strength is different: automatic subscription detection and a genuinely useful cancellation flow, plus a "pay what you think is fair" Premium tier from $7 to $14 a month with no functional difference between the two ends of that range.

Where they stop.

Both are built for one household's own accounts. Neither has a way to record what one person owes another outside that household, a shared dinner, a flatmate's half of a bill, without a separate splitting app and manual reconciliation between the two. Spendthrift closes exactly that gap: a shared bill's paid share lands in the payer's own envelope as real spending, and the rest is recorded as owed back, automatically, in the same ledger.
